Our Vision

We want to raise the bar for affordable housing.

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities do not have adequate access to safe and affordable housing, making it extremely difficult for them to become part of the community and live their lives to the fullest. These individuals are often forced into facilities or housing that are run down and mismanaged.

Nancy's Place aims to create healthy homes where these extraordinary people can live independently and not have to worry about neglected living conditions. We want to raise the bar for affordable housing not only by providing exceptional homes to our clients but also by advocating for public policy that upholds the standard of living we ALL deserve.

Our Services

Building more than just homes: Crafting communities of care

  • Legal Network

    Nancy’s Place has established a network of reputable law firms in Central Iowa who specialize in guardianship & conservatorship services. Through our workshops within school districts, our law partners connect with our clients’ families as they navigate their next steps.


  • Properties

    Nancy’s Place works directly with HCBS waiver providers to place their clients with intellectual and mental disabilities into our properties. Service providers are encouraged to contact us directly for assistance in addressing specific housing needs.


  • WAVES Program

    The Waiver Access & Voucher Education Support (WAVES) program partners with school districts to support special education families as they navigate complex service systems. The primary focus is to solidify post-secondary plans, specifically around stable housing and waiver or voucher services. Families who participate in the WAVES program will experience a smoother transition towards independent community living.


About us

Nancy's Place is a 501(c)3 non-profit, a non-stock corporation established under the laws of the State of Iowa.

It is a housing organization formed and operated to provide safe, quality, and affordable housing to low-income individuals with intellectual and mental disabilities.


To achieve this mission, Nancy's Place also provides educational material that can be utilized by family, friends, social workers, and all other supporters of individuals with disabilities to acquire the necessary services that will lead them to live fulfilling lives in their community.
